According to SEAsia’s 2026 update on the Southeast Asian cities with the fastest mobile internet, Phuket ranked second among 13 popular remote work destinations, with a median mobile download speed of 167.62 Mbps in the second quarter of 2026.

The figures come from Ookla’s Speedtest Intelligence study of ASEAN digital nomad hubs, which looked at destinations across Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines, Vietnam and Singapore. Six of those destinations recorded median download speeds above 130 Mbps, and Phuket sat comfortably near the top of that group.

The detail that made us smile most is 5G. Phuket recorded 83.8% 5G availability, the highest of all 13 destinations. SEAsia notes that speed and 5G availability measure different sides of network performance, so seeing Phuket strong on both is a lovely sign that fast connections are part of everyday life on the island.

Phuket also stood shoulder to shoulder with the capital. Bangkok recorded 167.27 Mbps, less than half a Mbps behind Phuket, and Thailand’s 5G networks are run by providers including AIS and True.
